Objectivity & Tone
[edit]While he has many "fans" (myself included), the title "...internet legend..." which appears with other official titles seems a little much. JosephSzymborski (talk) 20:33, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

The request to rename this article to Eric A. Meyer has been carried out. |
Eric Meyer → Eric A. Meyer – The current Eric Meyer is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC topic here. see also discussion on Talk:Eric Meyer (disambiguation)#WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Mdd (talk) 19:09, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed, per my opening comment on the dab talk page. Note that both moves could have been a multi-page move request.Dovid (talk) 19:26, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I guess your right: Eric Meyer (disambiguation) could/should be moved to Eric Meyer as well. I am sorry I am not that familiar with this kind of move requests. -- Mdd (talk) 21:01, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Support per my previous comment: "The article contents and page view stats don't indicate that there is a primary topic." Tassedethe (talk) 23:47, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Is he frequently referred to with his initial? If not, Eric Meyer (web designer) would be a better title. Despite the usual principle of WP:NATURAL, WP:MIDDLES says "Adding middle names, or their abbreviations, merely for disambiguation purposes (if that format of the name is not commonly used to refer to the person) is not advised." --BDD (talk) 18:49, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
- According to Amazon, he is credited as author with the middle initial. —Akrabbimtalk 16:21, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
Not encyclopedic
[edit]"His daughter Rebecca Alison Meyer died on June 7th, 2014 on her 6th birthday, less than a year after her diagnosis of grade 3 (anaplastic) astrocytoma, a brain tumor." - Unfortunately, Wikipedia can never be a proper encyclopedia, because instances like this so frequently happen. I rely on Wikipedia as a great source of information on trivial matters, but it fails for most scholarly issues. I am not trying to minimize anything about the death of Eric Mayer's daughter. But it does not belong in an encyclopedia. 75.165.47.97 (talk) 23:29, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
- I agree that the death of his daughter, sad though it is, has little encyclopedic value in itself. But the fact that "all the Web community" (including Mozilla, Apple, Google and Microsoft) voted to have a CSS colour value named after her is highly uncommon. I think this also serves as an indicator of Meyer's standing within that community. So I would suggest this be kept.--MichielN (talk) 16:13, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
