Keep Mario is perhaps one of the most notable video game characters ever, so no, a transformation of Mario would not be "fancruft". If the consensus starts to lean towards delete, I will change my vote to merge with Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3. But if it doesn't, I'll still be voting keep.
