Suburbs (1)
[edit]The "Suburbs of Queanbeyan" Karabar and Dodsworth are used for local government administrative purposes only. Residents of these virtual suburbs are Queanbeyan residents!
Umm, well yeah, like pretty much all other Australian suburbs you mean? --Martyman-(talk) 11:14, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Suburbs of Queanbeyan (2)
[edit]The suburbs of Queanbeyan have been changed. There are now 13 officially gazetted suburbs. Roaming27 15:01, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
I have since edited the suburbs section to reflect this. Thanks for pointing it out. Ronan.evans 02:52, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
my last edit
[edit]Still trying to get the hang of this. I only changed New south Wales to New South Wales. Roaming27 15:11, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Any edit is a good edit! Keep up the good work. 58.178.11.8 12:01, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Countrylink
[edit]In all honesty the Countrylink box down the bottom seems like an advertisment and should not be included in an encylopedia. 202.67.93.236 01:21, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Letchworth is NOT a suburb
[edit]To whoever keeps doing it do NOT add Letchworth to the suburbs list again. It is not a suburb but merely a totally unofficial region within Queanbeyan. If you must have Letchworth in the article mention it as an area of Queanbeyan and not a suburb. There are only 13 suburbs and I do not expect the list to grow beyond that point. Ronan.evans 12:30, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
My street map tells me I live in Letchworth (ugh!). The RTA says I live in Queanbeyan West. The NRMA says I live in Crestwood. I tell people to address my mail to Queanbeyan. So confusing... Oak Flats was nice and straightforward! Alivicwil 00:28, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Sport
[edit]Since when has Queanbeyan had a succesful AFL team? Don't worry, fixed it with replacing AFL, the major compititon of Australian Rules Football with, AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL! Now if someone wants to know what kind of sport the tigers play they will be redirected to the proper page
ACTJRU Under 16’s Preliminary Training Squad
[edit]Are representatives in this training squad really notable Rugby stars? User:Celcom
- Do they get a mention in a newspaper - being in just the free local community papers is less notable, but if they get a mention in bigger paper then I guess they can score a mention. Wongm (talk) 12:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Water restrictions
[edit]I'll see if I can find a better citation for the water restrictions. I read it in the local newspaper, and the ACTEW site states -- "A service level agreement exists between ACTEW and Queanbeyan City Council. And the agreement states that Queanbeyan City Council will mirror current ACT water use regulations. Permanent Water Conservation Measures and any Temporary Water Restrictions will therefore be applied by Queanbeyan City Council as well." Not sure if that's good enough for Wikipedia ::shrug:: Roaming27 06:01, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Finally found a better citation and posted it, yay! Roaming27 00:04, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Queanbeyan Show
[edit]I just added a para about the Queanbeyan Show. Should there be a new section for festivals? Or should it stay under the section for Sports and culture? Roaming27 03:30, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Popular Culture
[edit]I added this category as the term "strugle town" is so ubiquitously used it should be mentioned. Alamek
Note: Sabiby deleted the Popular Culture section on 18 May 2008 without justifying it here, he should be reported for vandalism and account deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alamek (talk • contribs) 22:10, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Full inscription
[edit]According to Rex Cross in Bygone Queanbeyan the oldest memorial stone in Queanbeyan is that to Anna Maria Faunce (born 30 November 1838) the eight month old daughter of Captain Alured Tasker Faunce. The inscription read: "To the memory of Anna Maria Faunce died 6th January 1839 aged 8 months. Bold infidelity turn pale and die/beneath this stone an infant's ashes lie/say is she lost or saved/if death is from sin, she sinned because she's here/If Heaven by works, in Heaven she can't appear/Reason Ah! How depraved/Revere the Bible's sacred page: the knot's untied/ she died for Adam sinned/She lives for Jesus died."180.200.142.157 (talk) 08:35, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Encyclopeadic?
[edit]Is the point of an entry about a town to describe the town, and its relevant information? Or to list every possible piece of information that can be found, and to do so without citing any of it? The article is a mess, is frequently vandalised (mainly along the theme of how Queanbeyan is the poorer cousin of Canberra) and full of plenty that has only a passing acquaintance with the 'notability' criteria. I'll try a re-write in the coming days. Please, if you have an issue with it, don't just undo the changes, let's discuss them, ok? We don't need piles of data on the page, such as what unit Faunce belonged to, or photos which are a bunch of trees with some houses on a hill in the distance. Wikipedia's an encyclopaedia, not a scrap book. DermottBanana (talk) 07:40, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
population ranking
[edit]The infobox has the ranking as 37th, and it links to cities by population. However, the lists have "Canberra-Queanbeyan" in the top 10 in both of them. Is this 37th from an old list or what it means? 85.217.41.84 (talk) 02:58, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
Also, Queanbeyan is addressed as a city itself here, but the list has the above-mentioned combination as the city. Go figure. 85.217.41.84 (talk) 03:02, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
