NHC updating DANFS

The NHC's updating is going to make things complicated, because they'll be modifying things in different ways from us. We probably want to adopt a policy, such as to merge all-new content and individual factual tweaks, but not to re-import entire articles. Stan 16:14, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

What is NHC? I am somewhat new to Wiki, although I have used DANFS for years. I have found it very good, but incomplete, especially when compared to Wiki's ship histories. I filled in many blanks on the history of the destroyer USS Mullany, DD528]] on which I made the last combat cruise in 1968. I included her last combat cruise, her transfer to the Taiwan Navy as the Chiang Yang, and her subsequent sinking as a breeding ground for fish. DANFS has been of inestimable value in providing life-long histories of ships on which I served, and those that we operated with. When I got out of the navy I worked at National Steel and Shipbuilding Company as a journeyman pipefitter. We built an AFS and seventeen LSTs. I looked up all the ships that I had helped build, as well as all of those that I served on during my four-years reserve duty, and found most of them quite complete. The history of the Mullany, however, takes her up to 1965, but not beyond. Does anyone know how to send updates to DANFS?

Naval Historical Center. In Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, it explains about the revision history of DANFS. There is a link to the NHC's DANFS editorial policy in that atricle, too, which should lead you to an e-mail address for submitting corrections and additions. Note that they are looking for documentation for non obvious corrections, similar to wikipedia's verifiability criteria. --J Clear 15:05, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
