Comment
[edit]17.06.06 - Rougly 20 jets landed in Northolt Air Base, some surrounding a larger aircraft. Not important enough to go into article, + too little information. gamerunknown
FA Review
[edit]A comment on the first picture. According to What is a featured article? captions should be concise. Could we remove the names of the pilots to bring the caption down to an accetable length? On second thoughts the names could go into a reference or footnote. ► Philg88 ◄ talk 23:35, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've moved the names of the pilots to a new Footnotes section, and moved the photograph into the Battle of Britain section. Harrison49 (talk) 13:38, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Spitfire with a Chipmunk Serial Nº?
[edit]The Spitfire 22 at the gate carried the serial number WP916, which seems to me to be actually a Chipmunk serial number. Can anyone confirm or deny? Paul Magnussen (talk) 16:49, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- PK624 did carry the serial WP916 during the 1960s but I believe it was repainted to the correct serial in 1963 when it was moved to Northolt. It moved on from Northolt in the late 60s for the Battle of Britain film. Not sure why it had the wrong serial but it may have been the only stencil they had at Uxbridge when it was re-painted. MilborneOne (talk) 19:45, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Units of measurement
[edit]In opening sentences, units are very inconsistent. Land measurements in UK are generally given in miles, not a mixture of nautical miles kilometres. Equally, sixteenths of compass points are unnecessary, as is the direction and distance from another, not apprecviably better known, town once one location is given. Being Bold. Kevin McE (talk) 09:11, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
commercial jets
[edit]We need to add the commercial jet use (run by city airport) in here somewhere. 87.83.31.234 (talk) 02:56, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Do you have a reference for that, Northolt has been used by private aircraft for a long time, is this something different? MilborneOne (talk) 14:57, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- From the operations manual it seems no scheduled or charter, maximum 29 PAX. 87.83.31.234 (talk) 00:34, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Disputed information about Westland Sea King helicopters in 2012
[edit]The following information has been disputed, and was removed with no replacement citation:
Westland Sea King helicopters of the Royal Navy were also deployed to the station.[1]
Is there a citation that shows this information is incorrect, rather than reverting with original research in the edit summary? Sciencefish (talk) 08:22, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- Several sources would appear to support the suggestion Sea King's were deployed to Northolt during the Olympics:

- The Sea King ASaC7, the type quoted in articles, wasn't retired until 2018, see https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news-and-latest-activity/news/2018/september/26/180926-final-flight-sea-king Thx811 (talk) 18:42, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Railway stations
[edit]Northolt Junction was indeed the original name for what is now called South Ruislip but Northolt Halt was a different station to the south east of Northolt Junction. It was adjacent to and superseded by what is now Northolt station on the Central line. 87.75.117.183 (talk) 15:30, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
