Flags

[edit]

1. In the first instance I have noted that in the pages of the various British ships - Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Mauretania etc, the flag of the country of origin is now shown as the Blue Ensign. Whilst many of these ships regularly flew the Blue Ensign, this would have been due to the situation whereby the Captain at that time was a member of the Royal Naval Reserve.
The normal ensign for all British merchantmen was & is the Red Ensign. In my opinion, all these pages should be revised.

2. In an edit of 21 Aug 2016 I added the flag of the City of Long Beach in this section. As of 11 December 2017 the Queen Mary has been the property of the City of Long Beach for 50 years; by comparison, she was under British registration for only 31 years. On this basis I felt that the additional flag was warranted.
I am therefore wondering why it has (at some stage) been removed?

Operators of the ship have declared bankruptcy

[edit]

The operator of the Queen Mary have declared chapter 11 bankruptcy, I feel like this should be mentioned in the article however I wouldn't be able to myself. https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2021-01-20/queen-mary-bankruptcy-hotels-eagle-hospitality-trust 87.75.84.128 (talk) 16:16, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Names

[edit]

The reason for misunderstanding what the provided souces say is unclear. One very obviously says "The Queen Mary". The other very clearly says the historical names (plural) are "RMS Queen Mary" and "HMT Queen Mary". While I can understand the argument against the "HMT" designation being mentioned in the lede, as the ship held it for only a few years, the repreated attempts to claim in this article that the aforementioned sources support something they obviously don't are as baffling as the "justifications" for them, "repetition" (no), "the ship only had one name" (not quite), and "only one person is adding this" (so what?).
