Thank you. Sorry I hadn't updated this page until now. Please put any comments regarding my work at Wikipedia here. Wilfredo Martinez 15:12, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. deleted images

[edit]

I have proceeded to delete messages on my talk page regarding image deletions. Please note I am not opposed to this act because I understand that Wikipedia must protect itself from copyright violations; also, I'm not an expert on copyright laws so I cannot discuss this topic properly. However I feel that the posts themselves (with their showy warning signs) are annoying, especially the ones made by Bots and not people. Therefore I'm removing them for easy of reading of the page. I include this explanation here to note I'm not doing it out of spite. Anyone who wants to read those messages can do so by checking the page's history. Also, please refrain in the future from giving me any more warnings regarding image deletions. Just go ahead and remove them if you feel they are improper. (Bot messages will also be removed immediately.) Thank you. -Wilfredo Martinez 15:56, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, help me out here.

[edit]

‎Some IP guy is going around removing any instance in the Wild Arms articles that implies that they don't take place on the same world. He's pushed me past the point of caring, so I was wondering if you could go tell him that they don't take place on the same planet since that's what you asserted in an edit to Wild Arms 5 a while ago. - Norse Am Legend (talk) 02:05, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, this is real mature. Why can't you talk things out like an adult? No matter how many people you rally that won't change anything. I've told you, if you can provide proof to what you claim, then that's fine, but you have yet to do so. Also, even the creators of the series have said that there is no definate answer, so it's all just a theory until one of the games proves otherwise.24.3.180.166 (talk) 02:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why are you stalking me through my contributions? Go away. - Norse Am Legend (talk) 04:22, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not stalking you.>_> I'm insulted that you would stoop this low instead of acting like an adult.24.3.180.166 (talk) 04:35, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't aware this was an issue. As someone who has played ALL the Wild Arms games (that have come out in America anyway) I can tell you that no, IT'S NOT THE SAME WORLD. The World Maps don't match and neither do the histories within the games; in particular, the cameo characters in Wild Arms 5 are NOT the same as the original ones, there are too many differences in their backstories. If anything, we'd need evidence that they *are* the same Filgaia, not the other way around. -Wilfredo Martinez (talk) 05:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is your theory and nothing more. I have also played all the games. I own every single artbook and guidebook, as well as all the complete and master guides, and even the novels for 5. Land masses and history and not definate and prove nothing. Even our continents were once just one big land mass. And there are many things in history even we do not know about. Above and beyond all else, the makers themselves have said there is no answer yet, so everything is nothing but theory. I'm not inserting that they do take place in the same world, and you should not insert that they don't, until there is solid proof. I can provide plenty of evidence to support my own beliefs, but that's more of a talk for IM or something, since I'm not the one trying to insert my beliefs into multiple articles as fact. As for the cameos, given that some of the characters are essentially immortal, if they are set on the same world, it is quite possible.24.3.180.166 (talk) 05:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're wrong on several points- from assuming that Wikipedia cannot present obvious points (such as that a videogame series reinvents its setting from episode to episode) to defending a point *without* giving your "evidence." In any case, this is an argument for the Wild Arms discussion page, not here; if you feel that strongly about this point, present your evidence there. This is meant for personal commentary, and I stopped arguing with close-minded Wikieditors a long time ago. No further comments on this matter will be accepted here; they will edited out. -Wilfredo Martinez (talk) 11:36, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comics Articles for Deletion

One or more articles you’ve been involved in editing (Melter, Ringer (comics), Ego the Living Planet, or others) has been nominated for deletion. If you feel you can make contributions to the article to improve it and make it worth keeping, please do so. BOZ (talk) 15:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the Nature of Wikipedia

[edit]

This is an argument that keeps coming up, and I don't feel like repeating myself all the time, so I decided it would be more practical if I just stated my opinions here and then referred anyone who asks about them here.

Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia in a Wiki format. Its purpose is to provide information on any subjects to everybody. It's built on the premise that anyone might have something to contribute. However, an encyclopedia also has to meet certain standards. It must be clear, ease to use, be well-sourced, avoid copyright infringements, and (even on the internet) consider what to include due to its limited space. It is work that should be done by professionals. Yet, by allowing it to be constantly edited by anyone, including amateurs, none of those goals can be assured. Alternatives would be:

  • only allowing people who join the site to edit articles, and keep a close eye on their track record; and/or
  • creating a separate area for public contributions, from which permanent articles can then be elected.

Under the current format, there is little point in arguing over rules or formats, which is why I've decided not to bother doing so. While I try to make my contributions as encyclopedic as possible, I'm not going to lose any sleep if they aren't. After all, nobody gets paid for working on Wikipedia; in fact, it's our contributions that keep the site up. So we don't owe it anything. It's a fun hobby, but as long as it's a Wiki, the people decide for themselves how they are going to contribute. Even the rules themselves are subject to change here. (The only ones that have to be obeyed all the time are actual laws, such as the ones regarding copyrights.) Being obsessed with the rules can be as disruptive as ignoring them completely. For example, some people have been asking for articles to be deleted because they are lacking certain elements, instead of asking for those elements to be provided (or providing them by themselves.) That's not constructive, it's destructive. We need to go by common sense.

Major events

[edit]

The article's main flaw is that it's too subjective. Was 52 really an "event"? "Great Darkness Saga"? What does "event" mean? A better idea might be repurposing the article into something like "List of DC Comics crossovers", which it seems like the article is generally leaning towards. This would be far more useful, and would solve the redundancy and subjectivity problems. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:00, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And any attempt to focus on the fictional stories themselves is flawed since DC can, has, and will change aspects of its fictional history on a whim. Focus on the comics, not the stories. Do that, and you'll eliminate the original research and subjectivity factors. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:02, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Starshine I.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Starshine I.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:36, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
