[edit]- On November 2, 2004, Dr. Chiao voted in the 2004 United States presidential election from aboard the International Space Station. This made him the first American to vote in a presidential election while in space.
Is he the first people to cast a vote in space? And who's up there to monitor that voting booth to make sure it was not Laika who cast that vote? :) -- Toytoy 11:52, Nov 3, 2004 (UTC)

Article restructuring
[edit]I realize that this article attracts many editors, many from other language Wikis, but I would like to remind the editors that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a fansite, and not a collection of irrelevant information. I'm removing much of the trivia and items that are not directly related to the biography of Chiao, such as his parents' education, early life, struggles, his sibling's education, irrelevant info. Other information needs sources and they need to be cited. I've moved some of the things from External links into inline citations, but other items will need sources and I shall tag them as such. Additionally, I'm removing dead External links, and other information that is not appropriate per the WP:BIO standard. Please review that prior to adding trivial material. I realize that he is someone to be proud of, but this is not a fansite, and the article should remain impartial and well sourced. Finally, I have removed some images, this is not a gallery, and only a few pictures are necessary to illustrate the subject. There is no need for 4 images of Chiao training, etc. Please review the image policy. Thank you, Ariel♥Gold 02:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Why does the "See Also" section just link to two other astronauts who are ethnically Chinese? That strikes me as trivializing this man's many accomplishments in the best case, and as vaguely racist in the worst case... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Galactoise (talk • contribs) 22:55, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
