Amphibious assault ship vs amphibious warfare ship
[edit]"Amphibious assault ship" is by far the most common term as seen in Google, plus it's been used for many years - this "amphibious warfare ship" term shows me just 267 Google hits, less than the average teenager with a web page. :-) So the AWS term strikes me as another of the Navy's neologisms that may or may not catch on. AAS is also a multi-national term. So I think amphibious assault ship should stay where it is, be a little more explicit about separating the general concept from the USN usage-du-jour :-), then link to amphibious warfare ship which is more detailed about current USN practice and lists the specific designations. I think the two articles will divide up points of detail nicely; if not, it will become obviously awkward and we can rearrange then. Stan 21:17, 3 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Jane's will tend to follow their customers' usage-du-jour for reasons that should be obvious ($$$), while WP wants to be valid for historical usage as well, including (and maybe especially for) usages that organizations want us all to forget about. :-) But in any case, the important thing is to create the content explaining the terms, it's always possible to reorganize later. Military Articles
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that the Humanitarian Service Medal has been added to the list of decorations User:Husnock 07 Jul 2004
- ORIGINAL MESSAGE: just wanted to drop a note and say that the military ribbon articles you've been working on are very nice. I've been dinking around in the gator ships lately. Hmmm. Some of the ships descriptions mention awards. Got a Humanitarian Service Medal hanging out somewhere? Guess I need to take a look. ;-) Ocon | Talk 05:32, 6 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Tag Team
[edit]Oh, I didn't mean to climb over anyone, but it can be efficient. :) I've noticed you've been active in patrolling RC though, and on behalf of all Wikidom I thank you for your efforts, and for leaving the user a message. Cheers, -- Hadal 05:53, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Question
[edit]I could probably try to hunt down this question on my own, but a simple search for "revert" didn't find it. Is there a simple, straightforward way to revert a page, or does one manually copy and paste the last legitimate version? --1pezguy 05:26, Jul 24, 2004 (UTC)
Thanks. I guess Michael has been busy tonight. 172 05:44, 24 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Templates
[edit]Yes, I thought it was very bold and professional. But other people disagreed with my ways of how the template looks... and so people have changed it back to text only... But hard work - wasted... - squash 07:57, Aug 1, 2004 (UTC)
