[edit]I removed this from the article. Seemed just a tad out of place.
- 1. Name 3 other bands named after shirts. No, don't. It's a terrible way to name a band, and I don't think any of them were very successful. Gant, by the way, is French for glove. Maybe they should have called themselves The Gloves; it sounds almost psychedelic!
- 2. Herring, like the singer for The Knickerbockers, did a fairly accurate imitation of John Lennon's voice when he sang his own songs. Unfortunatly, the rest of the boys sounded like Americans, not Paul & George, on harmonies.

Necessary edits in History section??
[edit]Paragraph four seems a bit too personal in nature. Perhaps this could be edited so the pov is more neutral.THX1136 (talk) 15:04, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
My name is Sid Herring, founder of the Gants. I am requesting corrections and changes be made to article, The Gants, which was posted long ago without my knowledge or input.Thank you.SidHerring (talk) 21:36, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. Some or all of the changes weren't supported by neutral, independent, reliable sources. Consider re-submitting with content based on media, books and scholarly works. |
Summary box-please remove "Alias-The Kingsmen". The Kingsmen was an earlier band that I had for a short time prior to forming The Gants. Also please change "Past Members" to "Original Members" and remove Johnny Freeman from the list. He came into The Gants at a later date, not as an original Gant. This will be explained in the History section edits that I am working on. Thanks for any assistance in making these edits.SidHerring (talk) 21:36, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, SidHerring, welcome. However as was instructed in the request you made on your user talk page: Any requests for change will need reliable sources WP:RS to back such claims. I also found the few sources listed as not still working, except the band website. If this is your article, it is subject to be pruned at any time for WP:Original Research. It is written in an anectdotal commentary style that needs to be questioned as to authenticity. In fact I have just tagged for 'Original Reseach', while I am investigating this request. Sorry, but without evidence in published third-party well-known media I cannot answer this request. Your assertion that you are the founder is made in good faith but holds no weight for this article. Thank you for your interest. Fylbecatulous talk 19:13, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
- Addendum: for the use of the musical artist infobox template, it has limited but mandatory parameters. Please see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_musical_artist#past_members. The two choices are either :current members (for active groups) and past members. Since the group is inactive, all members are listed under past members. There is no parameter for original members. It would not show in the article text and introduces template error categories. If it were a possible parameter I would change it, but since I spend much time correcting infobox improvision errors someone else would revert it as a mistake. Thanks again.
