Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hammasratas
Appearance
A short Finnish text that has been on Wikipedia:Pages needing translation for two weeks. I'm not sure what it is, but I think it should either be deleted or moved to the Finnish Wikipedia if nobody translates it. -- Sietse 11:00, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Transwiki. (grabs a dictionary) Here's why:
- Hammaspyörä eli hammasratas on mekaanisen laitteen osa, jonka avulla voidaan pyörivä liike siirtää akselilta toiselle tai muuttaa suoraviivaiseksi liikkeeksi.
- "Cogwheels" or "gearwheels" are mechanical parts that, through rotating motion, move axes or change... the last two words are heavily inflected and beyond my reach, but no matter: we have a good article on gear already, but I can't find one on the Finnish Wikipedia. Maybe they could use the
stubsubstub there. JRM 11:21, 2004 Dec 8 (UTC)- Here's my translation of the article (Finnish is my native language): Cogwheels or gearwheels are mechanical machine parts that make it possible to transmit rotational movement from an axis to another or convert it into a rectilinear motion. The size of cogwheels varies with usage: largest ones have a diameter of several meters. jni 08:39, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks! Could you tell I don't know the first thing about Finnish? :-) JRM 09:11, 2004 Dec 10 (UTC)
