Kit specific page
[edit]@Footwiks: you wanna make the kit specific page? Or should I? – Flix11 (talk) 05:50, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Flix11: Football-wikiproject don't want to make the kit specific page! Baseball's sepecific kit page is OK. EX) Category:Major League Baseball logos and uniforms
But Football's kit specific pages are not allowed. I don't understand them. Anyway, In order to create football kit specific page, We have to discuss again!Footwiks (talk) 06:50, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Footwiks: I have created Commons links in Brazil, Germany, England, South Korea, Japan, China, France, and Argentina articles. If you wanna help in moving the kits (especially the national team ones, but the Ajax and Marseille will be pleasant too), you can copy the latest edited before being erased by that snowy (either my edits, yours, or some constructive edits) and paste it under the "(name on English WP) kits". To access search the "kit history" and after redirected, click the link on "Redirected from" on the top. Then click the history. Do not forget to add categories as I have added to those Commons pages. And if the title contains "===" make sure to make it "==" so the subtitles will be bigger. Basically, just learn on pages I have done and follow the steps. After that, don't forget to add Commons link to the subsection of kits/colors in the main pages with "(double {)Commons|(national team) kits(double }). Just look the example at the pages I have done above. Happy pasting and cheers from your Asian brother whose country will be hosting the AG in 2 weeks time :D – Flix11 (talk) 09:34, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- I checked out Brazil kits in Commons. Good idea! But Is there any possiblity which Football-wikiproject users delete again? If articles are deleted again. We will waste precious time again! Footwiks (talk) 17:23, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Footwiks: According to this, they will not. I made Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore as a result. – Flix11 (talk) 01:34, 5 August 2018 (UTC)

Regarding the shirt badge missing from Brazil national football team
[edit]I want to open a discussion regarding the fact that this page has the shirt badge still missing while all other South American teams all have it as well as other top European international teams (England, France, Germany, etc.). Now I'm aware of the discussion from 2016 regarding the file File:Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (escudo).svg that it can only be used in the Brazilian Football Confederation because of non-free content criteria. What I do not understand is how all the other articles of national teams of other countries also are able to use copyrighted logos but are still allowed on their page. Yet, when someone tries to post the copyrighted logo of the Brazil football team, it always gets removed. Because according to this, the logos from other national teams should be removed as well. Can someone please elaborate on this? Also, can someone please upload and post the logo of the Brazil national team that conforms to the standards of the non-free content criteria, it just seems unfair that this page happens to be missing the logo, whereas all the other articles of South American national teams happens to have it. UltraBlazer 15:38, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Trying to justify the use of a non-free image in one article because the same image or a similar image is being used in other articles is not usually a good idea because of WP:OTHERIMAGE; it's quite possible that the same image or similar image shouldn't also be used in those other articles and nobody hasn't gotten around to starting a discussion about them yet. Some national federations actually have different logos/branding from the individual teams, so there may actually be two different files being used; moreover, it's also possible the licensing of the two different files used in a similar way is not the same which means that their usage would be subject to different Wikipedia policies and guidelines. A file which is licensed as being within the public domain is not going to be subject to Wikipedia's non-free content use policy so it's going to be much easier to use on Wikipedia than a file which is licensed as non-free content. That might not seem "fair", but "fairness" is not really one of the concerns of Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. FWIW, some one recently had been uploading Brazilian team badge files to Wikimedia Commons claiming them as being freely licensed as "own work" which they clearly weren't; so, those files were deleted from Commons. The non-free File:Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (escudo).svg was previously discussed at WP:FFD and removed by an administrator because it's particular use in this article was deemed to be non-compliant with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. A close to an FFD discussion is similar to a close to any other WP:XFD discussion in that it is assumed to have been made by the closing administrator in good-faith based upon community-wide consensus. (Note: "community" refers to the venue where the discussion took place, not necessarily the number of participants; so, an article talk page or WikiProject discussion is considered "local", but an XfD discussion is "community") A community consensus can change over time, but you can't really decide to ignore it if you think it was made in error or no longer applies. The thing to do would be to follow WP:CLOSECHALLENGE and first discuss things with the closing administrator to see what they suggest. The closing administrator of the last relevant FFD discussion regarding this file's non-free use was Explicit (he's the administrator who removed the file from the article), so you can ask him about it at User talk:Explicit if you like. The file has been removed each time it has been subsequently added because it's been added either by editors unaware of Explcit's removal of the file or by those who for whatever reason decided to ignore it. There is a notification added to the top of File talk:Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (escudo).svg about the removal, but perhaps some editors just assume that all files (regardless of their respective licensing) are the same and can be automatically used in any article. The non-free use of this particular file has been discussed a couple of times previously at FFD and WP:NFCR and the consensus each time was that it's non-free use in the main confederation article is OK, but it's non-free use in the individual team articles is not. There have been also been a number of discussions about similar files being used in similar individual team articles (not only soccer team articles), and the consensus established has been the same. The general consensus established is that the individual teams are basically child-entities, whereas the confederation is the parent entity per item 17 of WP:NFC#UUI. Attempts to clarify this and how it should be applied to individual teams (including possibly making a distinction between the main men's and women's teams and youth/reserve teams) have been tried before at WT:NFCC like Wikipedia talk:Non-free content/Archive 66#Application of WP:NFC#UUI #17(there are other discussions buried in the WT:NFCC archives as well) but a consensus which can be applied to all articles across the board couldn't be established; so, non-free use continues to be discussed on an individual file basis. So, if you're only concern is about this particular file's use in this particular article, you probably should discuss things with Explicit; on the other end, if you want to discuss something more general like the application of Wikipedia's non-free content use policy or whether the policy should be changed in some way, then you should do that at WT:NFCC. Any "consensus" established on this talk page about either thing is not really going to be considered sufficient. I'm not trying to be curt or dismiss your concerns; I'm just trying to point you to the best places to discuss them. Finally, one thing to understand is that Wikipedia's non-free content use policy is based upon a Wikimedia Foundation Resolution and can't be changed or ignored by establishing a consensus which means that any change in the interpretation or application of a Wikimedia Foundation resolution by a local project (i.e. English Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikitionary, etc.) still ultimately needs to ensure compliance with said resolution. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:53, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for the detailed reply Marchjuly. I'll get in touch with Explicit and see what I can do with this situation. Cheers! UltraBlazer 15:56, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
- Actually, this version, including the five stars, is the men's team's variant. The five stars commemorate their five World Cup victories. Thus its use is appropriate here. The women's team for instance, uses a different variant.Tvx1 19:18, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- An update. The justification of this file's fair use here has now been endorsed in a FFD discussion.Tvx1 21:51, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
Brazil 20 official titles ( record)
[edit]Hello good night, in the page of the selection of uruguay in english, spanish and portuguese ranks them like biggest winners of titles the all the competitions, fact that is not true, the uruguay has 15 cups america, 2 olympics and 2 world-cups, total : 19. The Brazilian team they have 9 American Cups, 4 Confederation Cups, 5 World Cups and 2 Pan American Champions , total 20 titles. I would like someone to influence the pages in English, to correct this mistake and put on the page introductory too. - Intro says that the Brazil-Germany rivalry exists due to the mineirazo, but it actually predates that match [1]. The info about Brazil having a notable and recent rivalry with Colombia is unsourced and undue weight because it's not proven as notable as the others; that rivalry description would actually apply to most of the other south american teams' relations with Brazil. 2804:7F7:E280:A53B:91C1:5108:C68C:5D45 (talk) 00:51, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Olympic medals
[edit]Infobox in the opening section lacks at least 2012 Olympic silver and 2016 gold, if not others. Splićanin (talk) 18:00, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- No it doesn't. It has already been discussed that U23 medals DO NOT belong on the first team senior squad articles. Olympics has been a u23 tournament since 1992. They belong on the respective U23 articles.Speun (talk) 16:29, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes it does. Your approach is seriously lacking in consistency. A note would suffice to explain why pre-1992 medals are listed, but you skipped that too. Splićanin (talk) 22:12, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- What is lacking?? My approach is completely consistent and in line with the rules of Wikipedia. I consulted all the regulars in the footballproject, and every single one of them agreed to remove them. I removed post 1992 olympic medals from all of the articles, but they keep being added by random users, and I don't have the free time to keep reverting it. It does NOT belong on senior aticles. Go on the football project and discuss this, as it has been already. The conclusion was to leave them out entirely. A note is not an excuse to add medals to an article, where they don't even belong in the first place. Speun (talk) 13:54, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- What's lacking is an explanation as to why pre-1992 medals are included but none beyond. I know the reason, but the majority of readers will wrongly conclude that Brazil never won 2012 and 2016 medals (and all 1992-onward medal-winning sides). Splićanin (talk) 00:47, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

This article isn't protected, so you should be able to edit it yourself. If you are still having problems editing it, please ask for advice at WP:TEAHOUSE. |
Someone has changed the Brazil National Football Team page where there is the list of biggest wins and losses as a team. Where the 2014 Germany 7-1 Brazil game should be (underneath biggest losses,) and the 1920 Uruguay 6-0 Brazil game should be, it just says "None, Brazil is the best country."
Which is just blatantly inaccurate, and I believe qualifies as vandalism under Wikipedia guidelines.

- Our place or yours? I work for the Brazilian FA, so if you just send us the money for the air fares then I'll get the game organised. Yours, Roberto Dunga. 86.13.243.214 (talk) 23:06, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Football at the Summer Olympics
[edit]In the medal records it says that Brazil's best performances in the competition were their silver in 1984 and in 1988, but Brazil has conquered gold in 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo. It needs to be updated but i don't know how to do it. Thanks in advance. Rodrigo Henrique Jorge (talk) 00:29, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Rodrigo Henrique Jorge Olympic records after 1988 are credited to U23 national teams. The senior national teams only get credit for pre-1992 results. Adeletron 3030 (talk • edits) 12:17, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- oh, that makes sense, thanks for clarifying. But wouldn't it be better to add it separately or to add a note? Rodrigo Henrique Jorge (talk) 21:45, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

France and Brazil share a unique record
[edit]I have to say a little bit but I left in Talk:France national football team about it, that is France and Brazil are the only two national team in the world to have won all men's FIFA 11-player tournaments at all age level, since both won the FIFA World Cup, Olympics, Confed Cup, U-17 and U-20 World Cups. And it is the fact, not a fabrication. You can check in Wikipedia and many of these facts are well-supported. HiddenFace101 (talk) 07:02, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- An statement without any references falls under WP:ORIGINAL, all you need to do is add any reliable source to back up your claims. Thanks Bocafan76 (talk) 07:18, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

Pele - The God of football
[edit]Pele was a remarkable member of the Brazilian national team, playing with a Joga bonito style, Pelé shocked the world. The Brazilian has scored 1,279 goals for Brazil, according to experts, most of the goals might have been offside to today. In the 1958 World Cup, Pele had a great start with his team. The 17-year-old scored a hat trick in semifinal against France and scored two in the final against Sweden. In the 1962 World cup, Pele left early because of an injury. But he was still happy to see his teammate Garrincha lift the trophy. After an injury and a bad performance in the 1966 World Cup he returned to World cup action in 1970. In which he gave an admiring performance and lead the team to victory. 2001:1A10:1085:5901:58B9:A517:2FDE:F549 (talk) 11:05, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
Honours of the senior team are wrong (Olympic Games)
[edit]Honours are wrong, the Brazilian senior team never participated in the Olympic Football Tournament The Brazilian olympic team represented by the amateur team won silver medals in the Summer Olympics (1984,1988) and the under-23 team has represented the Brazilian olympic team since 1992, so the Brazilian olympic team won 7 total medals (Gold 2, Silver 3, Bronze 2) Check your information carefully...
