If there's no objection, I'm going to move Mexico/Temp to Mexico and the current Mexico to Mexico/Old. The factoids about the states should be split out to their individual pages. --Brion 14:33 Aug 29, 2002 (PDT)

México (SAMPA ['mexiko]) etc...

While this is the Spanish spelling and pronunciation, I've never seen "Mexico" spelled with the accent in English, nor pronounced other than /'mEksIkoU/ in English except for deliberate effect. I recommend reverting the spelling back to the unaccented form, and noting the local spelling/pronunciation as such. --Brion
Agreed. It will also cause problems with links, as was the case with Yucatán/Yucatan.
This article really just desperately needs reorganization. I'm going to try to bring it into line with WikiProject Countries guidelines... --Brion
You beat me to proposing that... What to do with all the pronounciation rules for the Mexican states? Move them to their respective articles? Jeronimo 05:35 Aug 13, 2002 (PDT)
That would be my recommendation, yes. Of course, that means we'll need to create some articles! Next step: WikiProject Estados Mexicanos? :) --Brion
Yeah, I posted the states. . . and, frankly, I was hoping that someone would take the initiative to do just that, finish creating state entries and reorganize! --user:jaknouse
I know it was somewhat tongue in cheek but before we get to [[WikiProject Estados Mexicanos]}, we really should consider a WikiProject American States]]. They are a mess, with some states having absolutely no information whatsoever, others with long lists of local universities, and whatnot. The same could probably be done with Canada, which is easier since there are only 10 provinces and three territories.
Do you mean WikiProject U.S. States or as in Organization of American States? --Brion
