[edit]A dictionary definition. Can this be an article? Otherwise, delete. -- Sam
- I agree, I've added it to Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. --Camembert 00:16 Oct 26, 2002 (UTC)
- I'd love it if it could become more; but I can't see it! -- Sam
What do you think of it now, Sam and Cam? Ortolan88
- Yep, it's shaping up very nicely, thanks to you and others. I didn't want to add it to the deletion page (I hardly ever ask for things to be deleted unless they're nonsense of the "hi, my name is dave" variety), but like Sam, I couldn't see how it could get much bigger. I'm glad to be proved wrong :) I'll remove my vote for deletion. --Camembert
Terminology (Super vs. Hyper)
[edit]Recently, in RC, I've been studying articles talking about 2 similar phrases that differ only in that one uses super and the other hyper. "Super" is Latin for "above" and "hyper" is Greek for "over". How are these terms interchangeable?? Any other pairs of prefixes of this kind?? 66.245.98.219 00:36, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
RE: Terminology (Super vs. Hyper)
[edit]Most people I know use Hyper as being higher then super, I've never heard of them being used to mean exactly the same thing.
H-Bomb and "The Super"
[edit]To User:Fastfission: You mean only the designs -- and not the bomb itself -- were called "The Super"? That's confusing. Anyways, there's no reference to "The Super" or "Super" at Nuclear weapon so I'm probably just gonna delete the reference here. Ewlyahoocom 08:11, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- I added a little link to the more relevant article (Teller-Ulam design) on the page. I think it is fine to put it there; it is a very common phrase in the history of nuclear weapons, but it only refers to early ideas about the H-bomb. For example, one early design was called the "Classical Super" while another was the "Run-away Super". --Fastfission 01:24, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Again, that's nice information to have, but why does this information appear only on this Talk page and not on any of the actual articles about nuclear weapons? I'm deleting the link for now. Hopefully, if that information is ever added to its article proper, that author will remember to come here and add a disambiguation link. Ewlyahoocom 22:13, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Super vs. Superclass
[edit]Currently, this dismabiguation page links to superclass, another disambiguation page with only two links on it. That seems like a waste of a page, not to mention a hassle for anyone who has to go through the extra clicks. Is there any objection to just merging the content of superclass here and making a redirect? 168.12.253.82 15:47, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
super (disambiguation)
[edit]shouldn't that be the article title^^? Any takers? Randy6767 02:14, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Super short for 'Superannuation'?
[edit]When talking about insurance, I once read 'super' and wondered what it is. When I read a reference article it turned out to be the Australian 'Superannuation' program. Is this worth to be included into the disambiguation article? --188.102.181.242 (talk) 10:30, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- Looking at wikt:super (I am not an Aussie), it says "(Australian, New Zealand, informal, uncountable) Short form of superannuation, the Australian/New Zealand retirement benefits or pension scheme." From that perspective, I'd say it can be added. – sgeureka t•c 10:57, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
