Untitled

[edit]

This is a stub, but gives introduction to an area of ethics I find interesting and would like to investigate even further. Please jump in, be bold, but also, please be NPOV and lets try not to turn this int o some "some say" "others say" article, but rather a succinct and clear, balanced treatment of media ethics questions and issues. Having worked hard on the article at Journalism standards and ethics, I thought it would be interesting to move up the ladder and deal with the wider universe of media ethics, incompassing as it does issues outside the field of journalism and the news industry; treating, in part, the ethical questions brought up by various aspects of media economics as well. Links and references added are research starters, but not meant to reflect how I'd like to see this develop. Calicocat 17:52, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

One-and-half years later, a bold addition :) Some ideas for further extending this article:

  • History of media ethics
  • Major contributors to media ethical thought
  • Expansion of sections on relations with law and media economics

"Also involves Obamacare"

[edit]

@Alienforce2k9: I'm confused by this statement that you added to the article's lead section. How is it relevant to the topic of the article? Jarble (talk) 05:33, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Grammatical Changes

[edit]

Some of the sentences have the tendencies to overuse commas and turn into run on sentences. Be careful that you're not just listing things that constitute media ethics, but perhaps rather provide a concise introduction via examples. Also in the first paragraph when referencing the Benetton ads perhaps present it with its full name of "United Colors of Benetton" FocusUp1979 (talk) 02:27, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

General critique

[edit]

Although there this article is off to a good start, I feel like there are a few things that could be improved that would have a large impact on the quality of this article. there seems to be a lot of information, especially in the areas of media ethics section, which don't have references? For example, the lead section (or first section?) under areas of media ethics that specifies more areas of media ethics mentions a dictionary definition but doesn't reference it. The subsequent sections also seem to be missing citations which would make it a more credible resource. I think that the structure and organization of the article could also use some work (especially in the context of media ethics section). There also seems to be some inconsistency with formatting that could be improved such as when redirecting to related pages in the areas of media ethics section. Overall I think this article has some great information, but it looks like its in the process of being edited so hopefully these issues will be cleaned up as it progresses. Leveson

[edit]

This article needs a statement concerning Leveson and a link to the main article on Leveson. Vis a vis uk media ethics, it is easily one of the most important topics. 209.93.146.80 (talk) 12:00, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
