Walt Disney Concert Hall

[edit]

Here's an interesting picture. Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry is quite a piece of work, even for those of us who don't appreciate it! Anyways, quite remarkable, I have nominated it for the featured picture.

Hooray! It was accepted. See the talk page for more details.

Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, CA, USA

The Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles, California is the fourth hall of the Los Angeles Music Center. The Frank Gehry-designed building, an example of Deconstructivism, opened on October 23, 2003 and features his trademark steel cladding. While the architecture evoked mixed opinions, the acoustics of the concert hall were widely praised in contrast to its predecessor, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

For all those interested in seeing a free (albeit, even non-GNU) world of software, here is a major milestone. The Apache Harmony project is an open Java platform. No longer will the folks at Sun have dominance, but everyone, everywhere, will be able to use Java without the cloud of corporate control. Spectacular!

[edit]

I am increasingly finding the featured picture section very interesting on the main page of Wikipedia. To show my favorite to everyone and make my user page more lively, I thought I would add my favorite, of Strelitzia.

Wikipedia

[edit]

A little while ago, while pondering what the best way was to get involved in writing for websites without such strict censorship, I came upon the realization that Wikipedia was exactly such. Ever since, I've been truly addicted, a practicing Wikipediholic (I suppose), and many other things.

I hope to see Wikipedia grow and expand potentially into many other sites (why not have a wiki for schools, companies, people in general, and so on).

Non-notability

[edit]

I don't agree that "non-notability" should deter anyone. We all have humble beginnings, but that doesn't mean we are not important. Everyone should have the opportunity to publish information about himself, and what better place than Wikipedia? Of course, it "is" an encyclopedia, but Wikipedia is truly unique, and with its truly amazing ability to contain all the knowledge everyone has, it should be inclusive.

Templates

[edit]

I really love the idea of Wikipedia templates. It makes it so easy to change everything if need be and since it adheres to a certain standardization I enjoy being able to edit one template, not fifty pages. More on this later
