This map shows the western boundary of the the North-western territory as the 141 meridian of longitude. I believe this is an anachronism. Isn't this the boundary agreed upon after the USA purchased Alaska?
- No, 141° west was set in a treaty between the Russians and the British in 1825. However, the exact location of the panhandle boundary set by this treaty was subject to a lot of interpretation, and that part of the boundary wasn't settled until 1903. Indefatigable 23:31, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
This map does not show the extensive Arctic archipelago.
- These islands were not considered part of the North-Western Territory, but were considered a nameless and unorganized British possession. Indefatigable 23:31, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
For northern latitudes I, personally, think that the Lambert Azimuthal projection looks best.
- I'm not very happy with how the map turned out either. Maybe I'll take another crack at it when I get some free time, and try the Lambert Azimuthal. Indefatigable 23:31, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
