Theodore Jenson and Ramaswamy Naidu

[edit]

Theodore Jenson did not coach Ravi varma to Paint. In fact when requested then by the King Ayilyam Thirunal, he politely refused to transfer his https://chilker.com/product-category/womens-ashion/saree/silk-sareeslatest-desner/ trade secrets. But to Ravi varma's fortune Jenson allowed him to watch him paint and mix colours....In fact Arumugham Pillai, a Disciple of the court painter Ramaswamy Naidu, coached ravi varma in the nights without the consent of his guru( In fact Rama swamy Naidu refused to teach Raja Ravi Varma).... [edit]

This section is Original research, when the provided references are checked, they are images, not secondary published sources. I will be removing this section. — Nvineeth talk 06:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

not appropriate for Wikipedia

[edit]

?? I have read this article and I wonder why 'This article's tone or style may not be appropriate for Wikipedia...'. I think that either I don't understand English enough (it is really possible) or I suspect that other cultures and religions are not appropriate for Wikipedia??:) (sorry for a bit of irony). It's a pity that I don't see in discussion any reference to this strange (for me) notice? Could anybody explain it to me? Mcirek (talk) 20:54, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Tone" and "style" refer to the way the article is written, not the content of the article. I don't know what the specific issues were with this article at the time the notice was added, but usually it means that the article has been written in informal English, when an encyclopedia calls for more formal English. Articles on all cultures and religions are welcome (and indeed, Wikipedia would be badly incomplete without them); those articles must be written in the style of an encyclopedia. Suggestion that Sugandha Bai article be merged with Raja Ravi Varma.

[edit]

Sugandha Bai has been made immortal by the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and not the other way round. Since she figures in many a paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and has been an inspiration for the artist she deserves to be mentioned, which is already there. Raja Ravi Varma's Caste

[edit]

It is described as Raja Ravi Varma and his family belong to 'Nair' caste. ls there any authenticity to prove that statement? Vijayavarmapr (talk) 14:01, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Vijayavarmapr: Those bits have been removed as no supporting sources have been provided (like in many other sections in this article). If you're interested in adding more information to this article, please do so whilst citing reliable sources. Thanks.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 14:18, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Vijayavarmapr: Please provide the relevant quote from page 19 of Rupika Chawla's book that you are trying to cite. Please also read through WP:CS and perhaps this video on how to cite sources. Thanks.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 15:56, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Works added to Google Arts and Culture

[edit]

The following is the link to an article published in The Hindu few days back:

I believe that it could be helpful in adding more information in the Wikipedia article. Also, here is the link to the collection of Raja Ravi Varma's lithographs on Google Arts and Culture:

Hope that someone adds the relevant info to the article. Thank you. - Jayadevp13 10:33, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
