Talk:Bt
In spirit of being Bold, changed the redirect for Bt from Bacillus thuringiensis to BT Group plc, which is one of the biggest companies in the UK. Guessing that this might be a more useful redirect? Hielant
- Why? Article names are case-sensitive, so Bt is different from BT. Also most people aren't going to be able to spell 'thuringiensis' when looking up the pesticide, so the redirect is highly useful... ima changing back. Graft 18:55, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Lesson learnt! Hielant
I'd like to bring this up again: Since many people enter queries all in lowercase, many many lowercase-all uppercase redirects have been created inside Wikipedia. See: bmw, wysiwyg. Yes two different articles can take the space of different low/uppercase spellings, but people should have a way to get to the other version if there are several. In addition, the (unwritten?) rule is that if a keyword has many equal meanings, the keyword page should show the disambiguation page, and if the keyword has a principal meaning, the keyword page should show the page of the principal meaning (show of course could also mean "redirect to"). So, in the case of "BT" (all uppercase), there is a direct disambiguation page. This page also already contains a link to Bacillus thuringiensis. Since I feel that "bt" (lowercase) has no principal meaning, I suggest that we redirect "bt" to "BT", where the disambiguation page allows you to jump to Bacillus thuringiensis very quickly (just one click more), but most people will more likely see what they expect. How about that? Paede 01:31, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
